Dream Teams with Women’s Sports Foundation to Encourage Girls to Get Active

October 1, 2008—This past weekend, the Atlanta Dream joined the Women’s Sports Foundation for the first annual GoGirlGo! Challenge to encourage girls to get physically active. Held on September 27 at Piedmont Park, the challenge featured a 5K team run relay, a 1k team walk relay, a kids fun run and an interactive event village.

Dream point guard Nikki Teasley, Cassandra of the Shooting Stars dance team and the team mascot Star signed autographs and mingled with participants in the event village. Members of the Dream’s “Power of Girls” mentoring program also came out in support of the event, entering a relay team in the competition. Dream staff also set up the popular “pop-a-shot” for the girls to practice their shot in a friendly competition.

GoGirlGo! Is the primary programming focus of the Women’s Sports Foundation. Click here for more information on GoGirlGo! Atlanta.
