Power of Girls Update (07/07/2008)

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for members of the “Power of Girls” mentoring program.  The girls have been in the stand at every Dream home game, cheering on the team.  But on June 22, the girls were literally on the court cheering on their mentors as part of the Dream’s ceremonial ball exchange.

The next week, the girls hit the bowling alley at 300 Atlanta with special guests Izi Castro Marques, Betty Lennox and Erika De Souza for their first “Power Trip.”  Also on hand were Dream team ambassador Rushia Brown and C.J. from 95.5 The Beat’s morning show.  Everyone’s competitive nature kicked in as the four teams competed against each other for some fun prizes.  Representing the winning team were: Power of Girls members Aiesha and Abrahana, Izi Castro Marques, C.J. Simpson and Rushia Brown.

The girls also had the opportunity to meet rapper and Atlanta native T.I., who attended the Dream’s game against the Phoenix Mercury on July 1, 2008.  Following the game, T.I. met with the “Power of Girls” before addressing the crowd at the arena.  T.I. was a the game to share with you what he has learned from his mistakes, encouraging them to make good decisions and avoid making the mistakes that he made in his life.

Stay tuned to find out what the Power of Girls will be up to next!
