The Dream (2-19) look to get back in the win column against the Indiana Fever (10-9) in an afternoon at Conseco Fieldhouse. This is the second matchup between the two teams. The Dream are in the midst of their longest road swing of the season, a two-week stretch that wraps up on July 19, 2008.
After starting off the second half of the season with back-to-back wins, the Dream have dropped two in a row. In their most recent action, the Dream lost 79-66 against the Chicago Sky on July 13, 2008. Atlanta struggled in the first quarter, allowing Chicago to jump out to a 21-6 lead. The Sky never looked back, holding the Dream to 33.3% shooting from the field. Katie Feenstra led Atlanta with a season-high 21 points and eight rebounds, both team-highs. Jennifer Lacy and Betty Lennox chipped in with 11 each. Chicago was led by Candice Dupree (18 points, five rebounds, three assists, four steals) and Jia Perkins (18 points, three rebounds, three assists).
The Fever are also coming off a matchup with the Sky, winning 66-57 at home on July 12, 2008. Katie Douglas scored 13 of her 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Fever to the win. Douglas was 10-10 from the free throw line and added three rebounds and three assists in the win. With the win, Indiana extended their home winning streak to five games. The Feverís 8-2 record at Conseco Fieldhouse is among the best in the league.
Indiana leads the series with the Dream 1-0, earning a 76-67 win in Atlanta on June 13, 2008 in the first matchup between the two teams. In that game, Tan White scored 21 points and Tammy Sutton Brown added 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Dream were led by Ivory Latta and Tamera Young with 14 points apiece.
One familiar face to the Dream will be Fever forward Kristen Mann. Mann was traded to the Fever on July 4, 2008 in exchange for center Alison Bales. Two other Dream players are also facing a familiar opponent. Kasha Terry and Ann Strother were teammates with Bales on the Fever last season before being acquired by the Dream.
Dream fans can tune in to 1230/1340 AM for live play-by-play. Next up, the Dream take on the Sacramento Monarchs on Friday, July 18. Atlanta does not return home until July 22 when they take on the Monarchs at Philips Arena.
