Game Preview: Dream @ Comets (06/16/08)


The Dream (0-9) continue to look for their first win of the year against the Houston Comets (2-7). The Dream are coming off a 76-67 loss to the Indiana Fever on Friday night. Atlanta was led by rookie Tamera Young (14 points and five rebounds) and point guard Ivory Latta (14 points and six assists). Young had her best game of the season against Indiana, recording career highs in points (14), assists (4), steals (4) and blocked shots (2). She also tied her career-high in rebounds with five, while holding Fever star Katie Douglas to 11 points (she entered the game averaging 20 ppg).

The Comets are coming off a big win at home against the Seattle Storm, 68-60. Houston was led by Tina Thompsonís 21 points, ten rebounds and five assists. Point guard Shannon Johnson added 14 points and five assists for the Comets. Houston has been led by forward Tina Thompson, who is averaging 18.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on the year. Rookie Matee Avajon has provided a spark off the bench for Houston, averaging 8.8 points and two assists per game. Center Michelle Snow is also having a solid year, averaging 7.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
