Analysis
The Storm and the entire WNBA are still waiting to find out exactly where Lauren Jackson will be playing her ball in 2009. Jackson, a two-time MVP, recently said she will likely play for either Seattle or Phoenix. Of course, either way her decision will have a huge effect on Seattle, the team for which she has played all of her eight WNBA seasons. For now, it seems the Storm will enter the 2009 draft not knowing whether or not they will have her services. Seattle showed last year it is still a formidable basketball team without Jackson, who sat out the final 13 games as well as the playoffs because of an injury. However, the Storm have also lost WNBA greats Yolanda Griffith and Sheryl Swoopes from that '08 team. As far as additions, center Janell Burse is back and the team has also brought in Pee Wee Johnson to help on the wing. But adding another solid player to the rotation seems critical to the team's success in '09. An offensive-minded player would be the logical choice at No. 12 in the first round, but considering the team has lost Griffith and Swoopes and could possibly lose Jackson, going after defense might not be a bad idea either.
