    Analysis
We all know that Sparks will be without reigning MVP Candace Parker for the start of the 2009 season, as she is set to give birth to her first child some time in April. What we don't know is exactly when she will return to action. Fortunately for the Sparks they have a roster that can hold the fort while their super sophomore is on the sidelines. WNBA legend Lisa Leslie will be back and taking part in what she has deemed her final WNBA season. She'll be joined by fellow Gold Medal winner DeLisha Milton-Jones and another all-time great, Tina Thompson, who the Sparks signed during the off-season. But while the Sparks may be star-studded, the team still has some weaknesses its needs to act on if it hopes to advance further than it did in last season's playoffs, when they lost to San Antonio in the Western Conference Finals. This team is clearly frontcourt heavy, so going after backcourt players in the draft makes sense here, especially when you consider the team recently traded veteran point guard Temeka Johnson to Phoenix.
