Strother: "I'm a tall guard and I can play inside and outside. Depending on who's guarding me, I can go inside with some effectiveness. That is something I've been working on and do more of now. I'd also say I'm tough, a good leader, competitive and I've played with great players."
Baker: Most importantly, my quickness. God has blessed me with speed, which is rare. I hope to use that to my advangtage and was able to show I could at the collegiate level.
Q.
What skills do you feel you still need to improve or work on at the next level?
Baker:
"Well, the season is longer, with up to three games a week, so I want to
improve my stamina, conditioning and fitness."
Strother: "Going
to the basket more and just getting stronger. Rebounding is something I can work
with my height. When I match up against shorter players, I need to use size to
my advantage."
Q. What do you expect to be some of the biggest challenges/adjustments
at the next level?
Strother: "Picking up and moving somewhere
and not knowing anyone. That's not a bad thing, but I'm excited. With different
and new people, I'll have to get out of the UConn.
Baker: "More
physical and more intense. So I need to suck it up and keep going. I'm going to
back down to anyone."
Q. Are there any specific teams you would
like to play for?
Baker: "I'll play for anyone that will draft
me."
Strother: "Any team with a UConn player would be nice,
so there are options... Dee, Sue, Tamika, Swin... or any great point guard like
Ticha Penicheiro."
Q. Is there a current or past WNBA players you
model your game after/look up to?
Strother: "Playing with Dee,
she was the most talented player I've played with and such an amazing leader."
Baker:
"I worked out with Lady Harmon last summer and I love her game. She is a
great model, and you know she went to Georgia."
Q. What will you
remember most about your college experience?
Baker: "My teammates.
We had a great bond. I really don't want to lose touch because we're all so close.
I'll also miss the college atmosphere... the football games, the friends and hanging
out."
Strother: "My teammates, definitely. Also, the Championships
were unbelieveable. But my teammates are people I'll be in touch with forever.
We have such strong friendships."
Q. What WNBA player are you most
looking forward to playing against or meeting?
Baker: "Sheryl
Swoopes' game is great. Also, Tweety Nolan is a Georgia alum who has elevated
her game so much."
Q. What is the best piece of advice you have
ever received?
Baker: "Any situation you're in, never give
up - something my AAU coach said."
Q. What type of profession/field
would you be interested in pursuing after your career?
Strother:"
Something working with kids. I was a psychology major."
Baker:
"I'm majoring in speech communications, and I'll pursue that. Or sports broadcasting."
