Adia
Barnes, Seattle Storm
"I know that we definitely want to get stronger
inside, another banger. That is something we haven't necessarily had enough of
in the past, so hopefully we can add that."
Swin
Cash, Detroit Shock
"We can use another playing in a guard position,
someone that can come in off the bench and contribute points. We need backcourt
depth. Also we can use a backup player in the post for Ruth. Barb Farris is probably
the best sixth man coming off the bench in our league, but it would be even more
beneficial for our team to have another player who can come in off the bench."
Becky
Hammon, New York Liberty
"I think we need to re-establish our
inside game, so we could use some help there. I also know they are looking to
bring in some reserve and back-up players to fill in a few spots. You can never
quit improving, so you want to try and make your bench as strong as possible.
We'll see. Hopefully we can get a couple of good pick-ups."
Kara
Lawson, Sacramento Monarchs
"The is the way I look at a Draft
as far as the impact players: Which one of these players will no longer be available
at the sixth pick when my team picks... We could use some more shooters. We have
a great interior presence with the players that we have. Our strength is definitely
our inside game, but we definitely need some people that can help stretch a defense."
Lisa
Leslie, Los Angeles Sparks
"I never get involved in what the make-up
of our team is. I speak to our President and General Manager, but I really love
my teammates that we have and hopefully we can keep the core players together
that we have. That is what I fight for. Other than that, it is up to them to determine
what direction we are going to go in. The championship is always our goal."
Nicole
Ohlde, Minnesota Lynx
"I definitely think we could use some more
guards and players that can create their own shot as well as hit the three-point
shot. Katie can definitely do it all, but when she got hurt, it showed that we
need another guard to step up and get the job done out there."
Ruth
Riley, Detroit Shock
"The lesson we learned last year is just
how important the bench is. We had our same core group back, but the supporting
cast ended up playing a bigger role in the success of the team. So I think we
will take a good look at that."
Nykesha
Sales, Connecticut Sun
"I think the consensus from the whole team
and the coaching staff is that we need someone who can help out T.J. in the middle.
When she subs out, we need someone who can go in there and cause a lot of havoc.
They don't necessarily have to be a superstar or someone that is a go-to player,
but someone that can play role and is very tall and serviceable in the paint.
Once we find that, we will have the opportunity to make a run at it again."
Diana Taurasi, Phoenix
Mercury
"A big player in the post is definitely something we need
to address. You need enough of them to compete out west with the likes of Lisa
Leslie, Yolanda Griffith, Lauren Jackson and Tina Thompson. We have great post
players right now, but if we could add something. It would add another dimension
that would make us that much better."
Lindsay
Whalen, Connecticut Sun
"We need another big body - someone who
can create problems for other teams in the lane. We are always looking for athletic
players, whether it is a guard, a post player or a wing, it's always good to have
athletes and people who can make good decisions and who are smart with the ball.
We need people who are willing to work hard and accept their roles."
Shereka
Wright, Phoenix Mercury
"We have all discussed this, and we could
definitely use a big body, a focal point in the middle to draw attention. We are
smaller and thinner inside, so that is definitely something we need to be looking
for."
