Four of the top five picks from the 2002 WNBA Draft weigh in with their advice to this year's prospects on how to prepare for draft day.

Hear what Seattle guard Sue Bird, Detroit forward Swin Cash, Washington guard Stacey Dales-Schuman and Los Angeles guard Nikki Teasley have to say now that they've weathered their first year in the league.

Sue Bird, Seattle Storm

Advice: “Just take it in stride. Go into draft day with an open mind and just enjoy the time. You’re only going to get drafted once, so just enjoy it. Always smile when you go up there, hold the jersey and smile, of course. And when you get picked and you go out to your team, work hard. For me it was, I want to do whatever my coach asks me to do and mesh with my teammates as well as possible. And that kind of worked, just be a very coachable player and go from there."

2002 Draft: Selected by the Storm with the first overall pick
2002 Stats: 14.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 6.0 apg

Swin Cash, Detroit Shock

Advice: “Just enjoy it. Savor every moment. Don’t get caught up in 'Where am I going to go?' because the path’s already been paved. Just leave it in God’s hands and just pray about it and everything will work out in your favor.”

2002 Draft: Selected by the Shock with the second overall pick
2002 Stats: 14.8 ppg, 6.90 rpg, 2.7 apg

Stacey Dales-Schuman, Washington Mystics

Advice: “Let it all come and happen as it’s supposed to. Don’t force the issue, don’t try too hard. Be immersed in what you’re doing and in that thing only, and it will work out for you. That’s the simplest thing, but I think sometimes we get caught up in looking too far ahead or too far back. You know, ‘What if I had done this?’ or ‘What if I can do this in two weeks?’... Instead, just take each day in and of itself and you’ll be fine.”

2002 Draft: Selected by the Mystics with the third overall pick
2002 Stats: 9.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.7 apg

Nikki Teasley, Los Angeles Sparks

Advice: “Make sure you’re ready for training camp! Draft day is very, very nerve-racking, so you’ve got to be really patient and just make sure you’ll be ready for a long day.”

2002 Draft: Selected by the Portland Fire with the fifth overall pick. Traded on draft day with Sophia Witherspoon to the Sparks for guard Ukari Figgs and 30th pick Gergana Slavtcheva
2002 Stats: 6.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.4 apg
