Leonor Rodriguez - Florida State
Canary Islands, Spain
Has excelled both for FSU and internationally, including Spain's Senior Women's Nat'l Team at FIBA's 3x3 World Championships in Greece last August. Prior to that, averaged 11 points and shot 51.6% on FGs to help Spain to a silver medal at the 2010 FIBA U20 Championship. 2012-13: Along with FSU teammate and fellow draft prospect Alexa Deluzio, was named All-ACC First Team by coaches as well as by a Blue Ribbon Panel. Paced FSU in points per game (6th in ACC) and also ranked among ACC leaders in steals and FT percentage (9th in both). Was part of nation's only Div. 1 team with five players who all averaged over 10 ppg through the regular season. 2012-13: Led FSU in 3-point shooting percentage, including a 25-foot, game-winner with 1.1 seconds to play at NC State. MISC: Born and raised in the Canary Islands. Playing on a club on her island of Gran Canaria as a teen, her game caught the eye of WNBA vet Brooke Wyckoff, then playing professionally for the senior club. Wyckoff recommended Rodriguez to her former FSU coach, Sue Semrau, who signed her on the strength of the recommendation and due to Rodriguez's success with Spain's youth national system. Had never been to the U.S. prior to playing at FSU.
