COMETS COACH VAN CHANCELLOR

On the game:
"It turned out to be a game of runs, and we were able to build a big enough lead to be able to hold off a run and come back with one of our own. What you want to do with a lead on the road is make the game not come down to one play. Overall, I was very happy with the way we played. We ran our offense, executed and hit our free throws. If I do have one complaint, it’s that although we still outrebounded them by five, we still let up far too many offensive rebounds."

FELICIA RAGLAND

On the difference between New York defense vs. Connecticut defense:
"In New York, they switched earlier and more often, which made it tougher to run our offense. Tonight we were able to see some daylight offensively, and we were able to knock down some open shots."

On the tough early season schedule:
"The games are the fun part, but now I am looking forward to going home, having a day off tomorrow and getting ready for Sacramento."

On how she feels about her season thus far:
"I thrive on confidence, and when we win, obviously my confidence goes up and I tend to play better."

SUN COACH MIKE THIBAULT

On the game:
"I think the effort was good. Of our starters, we had one go 7-of-12, and the rest go 9-for-35. Whatever that is, that’s not good. I’d like to attribute some of that to their defense, but I think Keesh and Taj are pressing. We’re shooting off balance. We’re rushing. Hopefully, they’ll learn to trust their teammates. As much as I was unhappy with some of the things that happened the other day, I wasn’t unhappy with the same things tonight. I just wish we could make some shots."

LINDSAY WHALEN

On her first career start:
"I just want to win. Whatever it takes to win. I think we’re getting there. We’re having great practices. It felt good to get out there. I approach the game the same way, either way. I thought we did some good things when I was out there, and I thought we did some good things when Debbie was out there."

KATIE DOUGLAS

On matching a career high with six three-pointers:
"I’ve been working a lot. Just finding that rhythm out there and knocking down some shots was important to my confidence. Hopefully, I can carry that into Thursday."

NYKESHA SLAES

On the Sun:
"We’ve got a lot of new faces this year, and it’s just getting to understand each other. The more you dig yourself a hole, the harder it is to come back."

TAJ McWILLIAMS-FRANKLIN

On the Sun:
"Everybody does the same thing. You think of yourself as a team, but you try to do too much. We’ve got a lot to figure out in a short period of time."
