COMETS COACH VAN CHANCELLOR

On what was said to the players:
"I told them how proud I was of them, and how pleased I was with them. What a comeback, what a game."

On Tina being on the bench and the comeback:
"Great defense and tremendous hustle did it, but we still lost the basketball game. We had to block them out, and we gave up big shots, we got beat."

On missed free throws down the stretch:
"It looks like the two free-throws that we missed, that we normally don’t miss, really hurt. But I am really proud of our effort. I am more concerned with what is going to happen in the playoffs."

On the game:
"I just think that Sacramento just played so well in the first half. I thought Tangela Smith had a career game. As high as we were on Thursday night, we are low after we fought so hard and got so close. But the key is to play hard, and we played without Tina Thompson. We beat one of the best teams and we almost beat the other one."

On the defense on Yolanda Griffith:
"We did a good job. When we dropped down by 13 , we missed some communication on defense. That really hurt us."

On Sheryl Swoopes' status:
"She is really hurting and hobbling. It is going to be tough on Tuesday."

On the foul called at the end of the game:
"I would have bet 100 million dollars that there was not going to be a fould called at the end of the game against two cents and would have thought I had a good bet. I just told them what I would have done."

On the physicality of the game:
"It was a very physical game. I don’t think we came into this game expecting it to be as physical, but you've got to come out and go with the flow. The referee let it get pretty physical. You win some and you lose some."

On being down by 13 points:
"I thought throughout the game, the first half and second half, that we weren’t very aggressive. I thought we allowed Sacramento to determine how the game was going to be played. Coach said before the game started that regardless of what offense they ran, the main thing that was going to win the game for us was rebounding and stopping transition baskets. I don’t think we did a good job on either one of those, especially rebounding. They were pressuring the boards really hard."

On the last play:
"I thought Michelle Snow got fouled there at the end and we didn’t get the call. Unfortunately, who knows, it might have been a different outcome. We probably have never been in that situation before. We got down by 13 points, we caught back up and allowed ourselves an opportunity to pull out the game. We just did not do it."

On the big win in L.A., the high and the low:
"This loss is very disappointing and it is not even so much because what is going to happen now. We played well Thursday and fought aggressively and we attacked them and that is something we should have done today. Coach said that he was concerned about coming in here and playing today after such an emotional win on Thursday. I thought we played pretty focused. I though we were ready to play and now we have to sit back and see what happens."
