Olaf Lange
Olaf Lange assumed the role of associate head coach of the Silver Stars on Feb. 25, 2010. He originally joined the Silver Stars coaching staff during the 2006-07 offseason and spends much of his time working with players individually to improve their game.
Prior to coming on board with San Antonio, Lange, the husband of newly-appointed Silver Stars Head Coach Sandy Brondello, spent two seasons at Liberty University where he was the associate head coach for the Flames.
Most recently, Lange accepted a WNBA offseason coaching position with the Logan Thunder of the WNBL, located in Queensland, Australia. The WNBL season runs from October through mid-February.
A native of Berlin, Germany, Lange spent 10 years coaching men’s and women’s teams in Europe, leading Ros Casares Valencia (Spain) to the 2004 SuperCup championship and the Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club to the men’s 2003 FIBA Europe Cup title.
Lange also served as head coach for the German national women’s basketball team from 2001-03 and was an assistant coach for the men’s national team in 2003. Prior to his coaching career, Lange studied sport science at Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin from 1991-95.
From 1997 to 2002, Lange worked as head coach of the BTV 1846 Wuppertal squad in Germany where he lead his team to five German League Championships and German Cups, as well as a FIBA EuroLeague Final Four appearance.
Lange and Brondello have a 3-year-old son, Brody Max Lange, and they recently welcomed Jayda Grace Lange to their family on May 31, 2010.
