Catherine Proto
College - Springfield
Catherine Proto begins her second season with the Sun, assuming the title of Scouting and Video Operations Manager. She joined the coaching staff in 2013 after spending three seasons on Anne Donovan’s staff at Seton Hall.

Prior to Seton Hall, Proto spent seven seasons as the manager of scouting and video operations for the New York Liberty. There, she assisted in the preparation of practice, team strategies and opponent scouting. An extension of the coaching staff, Proto also oversaw the development of the team’s playbook, coordination of all live advanced scouting, travel and budget as well as the taping and breaking down of practice, games and opponent’s film, film exchange, development of team and opponent tape breakdown and creation of individual player film.

Proto spent two seasons (2000 and 2001) as an intern in the Liberty’s video operations department before joining the team full-time as the assistant video coordinator and advanced scout coordinator for the 2002 season.

Before joining the Liberty, Proto served as the director of basketball operations for the women’s basketball team at the University of Rhode Island. She also worked as an intern at the Women’s Sports Foundation in the awards and grants department.

A 2001 graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelor’s degree in sport management, Proto spent two seasons as a member of the women’s basketball team that won back-to-back NEWMAC Championships (2001 and 2002) and made two NCAA Tournament appearances. She received her Master’s degree in physical education.

A member of the Women’s Basketball Coaching Association and the Women’s Sports Foundation, Proto lives in with her family in Connecticut.
