Bruce Hamburger

ASSISTANT COACH
FIRST SEASON
Bruce Hamburger begins his first season on the Liberty bench in 2007, signing
on in March to serve as an assistant under Head Coach Pat Coyle. Hamburger is
no stranger to the Liberty and the WNBA, having served as an advanced scout
for the team during the 2006 season.
Prior to joining the Liberty, Hamburger was an assistant coach at Caldwell
College in Caldwell, New Jersey where he helped guide the men’s team to
a 16-11 regular season record. With more than 25 years of coaching experience
some of Hamburger’s greatest accomplishments were at Kean University. For
ten years Hamburger was the Head men’s coach at Kean (1995-2006) in Union
County, New Jersey. He earned the most wins as a head coach in the University’s
history along with winning the 2004-2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference
Metro Championship.
Before Kean University, Hamburger was an assistant coach at Seton Hall University
from 1986-1995. At Seton Hall his main responsibilities were scouting and on
campus recruiting. Prior to SHU, Hamburger was an assistant coach at Trenton
State College.
Hamburger received his Masters Degree in Counselor Preparations in 1988 from
Seton Hall University and his undergraduate from Kean College in 1984 in Physical
Education.
Hamburger is an active member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches
in New Jersey as a congress representative and currently resides in South Orange,
New Jersey.
