Time Out With... Tiffany Jackson
Tiffany Jackson was the National Freshman of the year, an All-American and a four-year star at Texas. She was selected in the first round of the 2007 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty and has successfully made the transition to the pro game, where the Liberty have welcomed her strength and quickness down low.     "Tree or Tiff."
    Where are you from?
    "Longview, Texas."
    Do you speak any languages other than English?
    "Yes, sign language. And yes, I'm fluent."
    What do your parents do?
    "My dad is a social worker and coach. My mom is a probation officer."
    Did you have any other non-basketball influences in your life?
    "My grandmother Shirley Jackson and my aunt Carmen Jackson-Gayle. Both of them are really strong women and helped me develop into the person I am today."
    Who has been a role model for you in basketball?
    "Coach Eugene Watts, my old AAU coach. He and my dad."
    When did you become interested in basketball?
    "I became serious about it in middle school. Before then, I was a cheerleader and a dancer."
    If you could play one-on-one against any other player or athlete, who would it be?
    "Wilt Chamberlin, because he is my favorite player. I could become a better player by learning from the best."
    Do you have any pregame superstitions or rituals?
    "I'm not superstitious, but I pray before every game during the National Anthem."
    Of which achievement are you most proud?
    "When I was named the National NCAA Freshman of the Year (in 2004)."

    "I play a lot of sports, but my favorites are volleyball, track and tennis. I'm a great volleyball player."
    What are your hobbies or interests outside of basketball?
    "I love to shop and work with children."
    How would others describe you?
    "Others would describe me as outgoing, friendly and silly. "

    "I would describe myself as outgoing and silly as well."

    Are there any charities or causes you're particularly passionate about?
    "The American Diabetes Association because my grandmother and many other members of my family have diabetes. Also, the AIDS Awareness Foundation because it affects the African-American community in a terrible way."
    If you were not a basketball player, what would you be?
    "I would be an activist."
    When your playing career is over, what might you pursue professionally?
    "I would like to become an activist or a social worker for inner-city children."
