Sun Waiver Carter

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (July 16, 2013) – The Connecticut Sun announced today that it has waived Sydney Carter.

Carter was signed as a replacement player on June 11th under the emergency hardship clause after injuries to Renee Montgomery (sprained left ankle) and Tan White (broken right finger). Both are expected to be back in uniform for Connecticut’s road games this weekend.

“It is with much reluctance that we must release Sydney Carter,” Sun head coach Anne Donovan said. “Syd did a tremendous job filling some of the hole we have had at the point guard position and was an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Carter, a 5-foot-6 guard, saw action in six games with the Sun. She averaged 4.5 points, 2.8 assists and 1.7 rebounds in those games, including seven points, eight assists and five rebounds in the win over Tulsa on July 2nd.

Connecticut will be in action next on Friday at Tulsa at 8 p.m. EST. before heading to San Antonio to take on the Silver Stars on Saturday at 8 p.m. EST.

On July 27th, the Sun will host the 2013 WNBA All Star Game presented by Boost Mobile at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting Family 4 Packs, with four tickets, four hot dogs, four popcorns and four sodas are available for just $60 and can be purchased by visiting
