Sun Host Dribble To Stop Diabetes Night

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (August 5, 2013) - The Connecticut Sun have partnered with Sanofi US and the American Diabetes Association through the WNBA to promote the Dribble to Stop Diabetes program.

Connecticut's Dribble to Stop Diabetes game will be Tuesday, August 6th against the Los Angeles Sparks at Mohegan Sun Arena. Dribble to Stop Diabetes encourages basketball fans to live an active, healthy lifestyle and raises awareness about type 2 diabetes prevention, management and the potentially serious health complications that can be associated with the disease.

A variety of activities have been planned in conjunction with the game, including a drawing and an on-court dribbling promotion to raise awareness at halftime. Dribble to Stop Diabetes will also be distributing information and giveaways on the concourse throughout the game. Estimates show that nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes, and every 17 seconds - about the time it takes for a timeout in a basketball game - someone in the United States is diagnosed with the disease. On top of that, an estimated seven million people remain undiagnosed with type 2 diabetes which is why driving awareness through the Dribble to Stop Diabetes program is so essential.

It's important to know your risk for diabetes and, if you are at risk, talk to your doctor and get tested. Visit for more information and to take the risk assessment.
