Taj McWilliams-Franklin Chat Transcript
Taj joined fans for a live chat.|
Taj joined the fans for a live chat on the eve of the All-Star game, but if you missed it you can read the transcript of her thoughts on playing in this year's All-Star game and the season so far.
Celeste Palladino Bennington Vermont: Hey Taj, I am a big fan of the Sun and I will be at the game and at summer jam. I have two questions for you. the First one is what do you think about Lindsay not making the team? and Will you be at summer jam taking part in the activities? Good luck the rest of the season GO SUN
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : I think that if the fans of Connecticut cast their votes early and statewide we'd have a different team. But we have so great many players in the league and fans voting for them that things like this happen. It makes it hard for coaches to fill the team with the deserving players. Maybe we can change the system in the WNBA so the fan vote is only for a few players. For the other part, I won't be there, but I will be at the Riverview Rooftop Garage tomorrow from 10:30 to 11:15 signing autographs.
David (Farmington): Taj that was an absolute riot to watch last night! What a great reaction to that foul call! So what will you say to Ann Wauters when you see her today after that "foul"?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Absolutely nothing. Ann is a good player and she didn't make the call. I've played against her every year overseas, so I have no problem with her. I hope she's next to me in the locker room. But they called a foul on me because Ann fell down, I didn't even touch her! But that happens, and it wasn't Ann's fault.
renee, new york: Taj - What are your expectations for the All-Star game.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Just to have fun and to break the magic spell the West seems to have over the East. We want to go out there and get a win for the East.
kim, dallas: What is one of your favorite past All-Star moments?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Probably the first one.
wendy, orlando: Taj - A fan of yours since your days with the Orlando Miracle...do you miss anything about those days?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Yeah, I miss Orlando. It's a nice city. It was my first year in the WNBA, so it will always be special to me.
Gary (Norwich): Congratulations, I was wondering if you would be doing anymore writing on the web site?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : I hope so. I really do. If we can work it out, I'd like to do it. I think I have a talent for writing and hopefully people will appreciate my talents off the court.
kristin: HEY TAJ,when you were little what did you want to be when you grew up.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Taller! (Laughing) I was reall small and my Dad was huge. I wanted to be taller, my feet were big and I wanted my body to grow into that. Then, as I got older I wanted to be a writer.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama): Is there any nba players that you think you play like them?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Yeah. I'm the Dennis Rodman-Scottie Pippen mix of the WNBA. I'm fierce but I also have that finesse.
Cindy in Palm Beach Gardens, FLA: Hey Taj, congrats on another fantastic year and all-stardom!! You are like fine wine, you just keep getting better with age!! You are super momma of the Sun. You continue to be a role model for all of us going back to the ABL and Miracle days. What were your thoughts when you first saw yourself on a basketball trading card???? Thank you for being you and hoop it up!!!
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Oh my God, it's Cindy my girl! (Laughing) It's amazing they found a picture I look OK in! Really though, I was humbled by that.
june, hartford: taj - do you have any nicknames that the players call you or that you had on other teams?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Besides, Mom, I don't have any other outrageous nicknames.
Julie, MA: Do your daughters come to the home games? Does your older daughter play hoops?
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : My youngest comes if they're in town, but we live so far away, it doesn't happen as much. My older daughter doesn't play basketball, she is a volleyball and track and field girl, but mostly she is creative more than athletic. She's gonna go to college and study Drama.
John, Springfield MA: Congrats on the great first half, how do you see the second half of the season playing out for the Sun & hope to see you at the All Star jam tomorrow.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : Definitely like the first half. Every team in this league is gonna try and improve and we're the same. We want the second half to be better though, we want to improve by addressing some deficiencies in our losses and by having fun out there playing.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin : I'd like to thank all the fans out there supporting the Sun and the WNBA. I also want to say "Hi" to my girls in West Palm Beach. I hope the fans will continue to support us in the second half of the season. Thanks again.
