Katie Douglas Overseas Diary
It has been such a long time since I last checked in with everybody. I apologize for that, but over here in Lithuania I forget how much time has passed. Anyway, let me update you all on the latest and greatest going on with me.
Letís see. Well, my team over here is doing fantastic. I didnít think we would be able to repeat the success we had from last year. However, we have done just that and are making our second straight trip to the Euroleague Final Four later this month. The Final Four is going to be held in Brno, Czech Republic. I am excited for that because, as you know, that is where Kesh (Nykesha Sales) plays, and it will be fun to see and hang out with her for the weekend. We get another shot at Samara, Russia, the team that beat us last year in the same opening game at the Final Four. They are again loaded with talent so it will be a very difficult task for us, but we are preparing now, and hopefully will be ready to go in a few weeks.
So that is the basketball part of what is going on with me. Life outside of basketball is pretty much the same. Vasilis and I are about to close on our first home here in a few weeks. We are both pretty excited about this because finally we will have somewhere to put all of our belongings. I canít even remember when the last time was that I had somewhere to put all my things. Usually I just scatter things around from place to place, and needless to say that creates a lot of chaos.
I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming season. I canít believe how quickly the offseason flies. It should be another great season for the Connecticut Sun, and I canít wait to get there and reunite with my teammates. We have a condensed schedule this summer, which I prefer, but it will be a tough task to repeat the success of last season. I know that we are all very hungry to accomplish all of our goals, and hopefully can build from what we did last season. I know that I am looking forward to going West in the preseason for sure! I have had enough snow and cold weather this year and really need to see some serious sun!
Well that is all from me. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!
