Lawson Competes In Marathon Week

Wow! What an amazing weekend in New York City. The atmosphere was incredible.

One Saturday, I ran in the inaugural New York Road Runners Dash To The Finish 5K to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of coach Pat Summitt. The next day, I joined over 2 million spectators who lined the streets to watch 47,000 runners punish themselves for 26.2 miles of the New York City Marathon.

I was there to watch one runner, my husband Damien. And I never saw him!

I went to mile 8... and missed him. I waited at the finish line... and I missed him. I must've seen 20,000 people. But I didn't see my one. Oh well.

Damien finished the marathon, and I'm proud of him. I am also proud of the fact that by this past Monday morning, we had raised $17,280 for the Alzheimer's Association. When we started this campaign four-and-a-half weeks ago we weren't sure what to expect. What we got was an overwhelming amount of support from family, friends, fans, and colleagues.

Damien and I are extremely grateful for everyone's contributions. Thank you all so very much. Our work with the Alzheimer's Association is just beginning!
