Sun Makes Donation for Hurricane Relief
The total amount includes proceeds of box office sales from tonight’s WNBA playoff game with the Detroit Shock, fan donations, and funds raised through a silent auction conducted during the game.
“On behalf of the Connecticut Sun and the Mohegan Tribe, I am pleased to present this donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund,” said Mitchell Etess, the CEO of Mohegan Sun. “The events of the last few days have touched all Americans, and we hope in our own small way, this helps those in need during what will certainly be a long recovery process.”
Members of Connecticut’s Charter Oak Chapter of the American Red Cross were on hand for the game and the donation presentation.
“I thank the Connecticut Sun for its support of American Red Cross relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The team and its fans have shown tremendous generosity,” said Debra K. Pasquale, CEO of the Charter Oak Chapter of the American Red Cross. “On behalf of all Red Cross chapters in Connecticut, the American Red Cross, and on behalf of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, thank you. The Connecticut Sun and its fans are true champions.”
