Updates With Asjha

Throughout the 2010 season, Sun forward Asjha Jones will be updating fans on what's going on with the team, herself and a variety of other topics. Below is her first installment.

Hello all! Ok... so everyone knows that I am not the most talkative person in the world so this is my attempt to improve my communication skills. I have finally arrived back in CT after a long off season, if that's what you want to call it. After we did not make it to the playoffs I took more time off in order to allow my achilles to heal further. Then I had the honor of training with USA basketball in October. From there I went to play in Ekaterinburg, Russia. I played until the Christmas break, that's all my achilles would allow. So in order to give myself the best chance to have a great summer it was decided that surgery was the best option.

I have spent the last couple of months rehabbing and trying to get some air in this flat tire.  I have been playing year round pretty much since I graduated so having some time away from the game was great. I couldn't go on that island vacation I was planning though. During my break I also ventured into a great project that I am excited to present to you all very soon so stay tuned! Well, after being away from the game for about four months I am dying to getback out there. Break time was great but now over. I still have a little more time before I can get back out there but that only makes me more anxious. Now we are back to work with a brand new team.

You could feel the excitement in the air during opening day. Everybody wants to talk about all of the changes we have made and the pressure we have to win. I say the pressure isn't any different than it has always been because no matter who's on our roster our goal is to win it all! I must say that this team has a great blend of experience and youth. And every player has a winning history. So on paper we are looking pretty good.  Sitting on the side and watching the first practice was tough but I got a chance to watch all of the new people play. It was incredible because Kerri Gardin was the only returning player out there. That has to be some sort of record. I was able to see all of the possibilities. Our team is like a coaches play ground because everyone is so interchangeable. We have someone for everything so coach can let his imagination run wild. We will have to see how quickly all of the pieces mesh. This is going to be a very exciting year for me on and off the court.  Until next time...
