Storm Acquires No. 4 Draft Pick in Trade With Atlanta

February 6, 2008
- Following today’s WNBA Expansion Draft, the Seattle Storm made a trade with the expansion Atlanta Dream, moving the Storm up in the 2008 WNBA Draft. The Storm moves up to the No. 4 overall pick, and also acquired Roneeka Hodges from the Dream who selected the 5-11 guard from the Houston Comets in the expansion draft earlier today. In exchange for the No. 4 pick and Hodges, the Storm traded guard Iziane Castro Marques and the No. 8 pick in the 2008 Draft to Atlanta.

“We added flexibility and a lot of options with the No. 4 pick,” Storm head coach Brian Agler said. “Roneeka is having a great season in Spain right now and we certainly look forward to having her in camp this spring. I’m excited about how our roster is taking shape prior to the draft and we are keeping our options open in the coming weeks.”

Hodges was selected by the Houston Comets with the No. 15 pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft (2nd pick of the 2nd round). She started four games for the Comets last season, and has averaged 4.3 points and just under 14 minutes per game in her three years in the WNBA.

“I want to thank Iziane and Betty (Betty Lennox was selected today by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA Expansion Draft) for their contributions to the Storm on and off the court,” said Storm Chief Operating Officer Karen Bryant. “We wish them both well with their new team in Atlanta and look forward to seeing them back in Seattle on September 12.”
