SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today signed 5-9 guard Shona Thorburn to a seven-day contract, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Anne Donovan announced.
The seventh overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft, Thorburn appeared in 22 games for the Minnesota Lynx last season, averaging 0.7 ppg, 0.8 rpg and 0.9 apg. She appeared in two preseason games for the Lynx this summer, averaging 2.0 ppg, 2.5 apg and 9.0 mpg. Thorburn was waived by the Lynx on May 14.
Born in Oxford, England and raised in the Canadian province of Ontario, Thorburn attended the University of Utah and averaged 13.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 5.3 apg in 130 career collegiate games. Thorburn was named Co-Mountain West Conference Player of the Year following her junior season and received All-WMC First Team and AP Honorable Mention Team honors following her senior year.
