April 1, 2014

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today announced the signing of 6-5 forward Angel Robinson. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

We are excited about Angel joining the Storm, said head coach and general manager Brian Agler. She is a very mobile post that has played very well in the EuroLeague and we feel she can contribute. I watched her play over the past three seasons and believe that she can help us both offensively and defensively.

Robinson comes to Seattle after playing for Perfumerias in Spain for two seasons (2012-14), and currently averages 12.2 points and 8.2 rebounds in LFB play and 11.5 points and 10.2 rebounds in EuroLeague competition.

I am very happy that I will be joining the Storm, said Robinson. I sincerely look forward to the opportunity of working with an exciting and reputable WNBA organization. As a team member, I hope to bring the talent and enthusiasm to complement an already well-oiled machine. In addition, I look forward to receiving superb training and mentoring as I progress in my athletic career.

A University of Georgia graduate, Robinson finished her career in Athens at No. 4 in blocked shots and No. 5 in rebounds. She became the programs 31st 1,000-point scorer during the teams win over Georgia Tech on Dec. 6, 2009 and ended her career at No. 25 among Georgias career scoring leaders. The Marietta, Ga. native was named to the 2008-09 All-SEC Second Team by league coaches. She led the SEC in rebounding that same season.

Robinson logged two games in the WNBA with the Washington Mystics during the 2011 preseason.

Seattle hosts Los Angeles in a preseason game on May 11 at 1 p.m. before hosting the Sparks in its home opener on May 16 at 7 p.m. Season ticket packages including exclusive benefits are still available at StormBasketball.com or by calling(206) 217-WNBA (9622).
