Postgame Quotes/Notes: Atlanta 77, Storm 61

Sept. 11, 2012

STORM HEAD COACH BRIAN AGLER:

On the game:
We had an opportunity. We worked ourselves back in the game in the third quarter. I think we may have been able to tie it up or go down by one. Like I said, we had our opportunities. Our team just has to be a little more mentally and physically tough.

On playoff seeding:
We need to take care of ourselves on that. We'll probably need some help but we'll need to take care of ourselves and win some games.

STORM CENTER LAUREN JACKSON:

On the game:
Atlanta played well. They came out with high energy and we just didn't play a great game. In the third quarter we fought back a little bit, but it wasn't enough to get by them.

On takeaways:
We know that we can come back. In the third quarter we definitely made a run on them. I think that it's just one of those things about toughness; we have to be tougher in games like this. We know how to play. It's just a matter of doing it.

STORM FORWARD SHEKINNA STRICKLEN:

On the game:
We started out a little slow in the first half. I feel like we had a great third quarter. We were just pushing through.

On the Storm's veterans:
They are great. I love them. I'm glad I came on this team. They've helped me out a lot. Most of all they're very patient with me and they provide great leadership.

ATLANTA HEAD COACH FRED WILLIAMS:
On bringing Angel McCoughtry off the bench:
We are bringing her in slowly. She is helping us get these wins for us and her minutes are going up. We will look at getting her in the starting lineup in the next few days, so we will see what happens.

On the Storm's run in the third quarter:
Teams make runs in this league. I don't care if you have a 20-point lead or a 15-point lead. And we felt if we could sustain them coming out on us, and could come back at them, and keep the ball inside, then we could keep a double-digit cushion. Then we felt we could pull it out and our players did that for us defensively.

On preparing for the playoffs:
You are looking at a playoff team who just beat Seattle. And it was like a Finals game when we had the tough game in Minnesota in double overtime. So we want to play that type of ball and continue to do well. We are taking one day at a time. All the teams we have played already, we have good information on them. And that is how we have to look at it. We have to just take it one practice at a time.

ATLANTA GUARD ARMINTIE PRICE:
On the game:
It was a needed victory and our last game at home, so we really wanted to come out and finish strong before playoffs. We just want to keep it rolling, especially keep the energy up. We wanted to give everyone a chance to play, allowing everyone to get better. We just want to continue to improve in every game, and we seem to be doing that.

On the team's offense:
We are so ready to get to the playoffs. Everyone is anxious to make the playoffs and get that going. So I think that is was offensively we have been on a roll. We have honestly just been having some fun while we get these wins. We just hope to keep the energy up that we have going right now.

ATLANTA FORWARD ANGEL MCCOUGHTRY:
On the game:
I love the way we are playing right now. We are playing really well together and it's showing. Everything has been going wonderful and I hope we keep this great team energy up for this upcoming road trip, and then playoffs.
