Storm Pride Game to Benefit GSBA Scholarship Fund

June 5, 2012

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm will celebrate Pride Weekend with a very special promotion to benefit the Greater Seattle Business Association Scholarship Fund. The Storm will donate $5 for every Pride ticket sold to the Storm game on June 24 to the fund that helps LGBTQA youth attend college.

"We're excited and grateful for this partnership," said GSBA President and CEO Louise Chernin. "The Seattle Storm is a vital part of our community and we look forward to working together to offer hope and financial support to young people as they further their education."

The scholarship fund benefits LGBTQ youth as well as those with a history of leadership and involvement with LGBTQ groups. GSBA has granted more than $1.4 million to more than 390 students since its inception in 1990.

"We're very proud to be supporting the GSBA Scholarship Fund," said Storm President & CEO Karen Bryant. "The work they do to support LGBTQA and their mission to invest in tomorrow's leaders is something everyone at the Storm and in our fan community can get behind."

The Storm plays the Washington Mystics at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24. The game comes at the end of Pride Weekend in Seattle, and KeyArena sits in Seattle Center at the heart of the Pride Festival. The Storm will participate in the Pride parade earlier that day.

In connection with all the festivities, the Storm expects a big crowd at the Sunday game and will present a check to the GSBA Scholarship fund at the game.
