Storm Signs Johnson, Williams

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today signed 6-4 center Tiffani Johnson and 5-9 guard Toccara Williams to training camp contracts, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Anne Donovan announced. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Johnson holds career averages of 4.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 20.7 minutes in six WNBA seasons with Phoenix and Houston. Her best statistical year came in 2002 when she started all 32 games while averaging 6.3 points and 5.4 rebounds. Johnson is currently averaging 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds for K Cero I.C.P. in EuroLeague play.

Williams brings one season of WNBA experience to the Storm, having averaged 2.1 points and 1.7 assists in 26 appearances for San Antonio in 2004. The former Texas A&M star is the all-time Big 12 leader in steals (452) and ranks ninth in NCAA history with an average of 4.07 steals per game over her collegiate career.

The Storm will open their 2006 season against Western Conference rival Los Angeles at KeyArena on Sunday, May 21 at 6 p.m. The following Tuesday, May 23, Seattle will host the Houston Comets at 8 p.m. at the Key. The Storm vs. Comets game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
