As part of the Take Your Health by Storm Fitness Challenge, presented by LifeWise Health Plan of Washington, LifeWise Health Plan of Washington and EveryMove have announced a combined donation of $9,500 to benefit the sports scholarship program at Boys & Girls Clubs of King County. The donation will provide approximately 100 youth with the chance to play the sport of their choice at local Boys & Girls Clubs.
LifeWise Health Plan of Washington and the Seattle Storm share the Boys & Girls Clubs commitment to encouraging youth to live healthy, active lives. As a demonstration of this shared cause, LifeWise committed to donate $1 to Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, up to $7,500, for every “Active Day” participants logged during the challenge. At the conclusion of the campaign, participants had logged more than 65,000 active days. LifeWise Health Plan of Washington CEO Jim Havens will present a $7,500 check to Boys & Girls Clubs of King County at the Storm’s final regular season home game on Aug. 17 at Key Arena.
Additionally, this initiative has set record numbers through participant sign-ups and active days recorded by EveryMove. With more than 65,000 active days recorded and upwards of 40,000 likes and comments posted on social media, the success of the challenge demonstrates the power of the EveryMove community as it rallies behind a cause. In celebration of this overwhelming response, EveryMove is proud to contribute an additional $2,000 to LifeWise’s Boys & Girls Clubs of King County donation. This gesture signifies both organizations’ commitments to the Seattle community and support of youth sports programming, an important component in establishing lifelong healthy habits.
Everyone who participated in the challenge earned points based on their level of activity, and those points added up to personal rewards and the charitable donations. Throughout the challenge, the Storm provided exclusive rewards for participants, including complimentary Storm tickets and autographed items. Challenge participants will be recognized at the Storm’s final regular season home game on Aug. 17.
