You have to give the Sparks bench a lot of credit. I think thats the first time all year that weve been hit with a situation where we got that kind of play off their bench. It was a rough game for us. I didnt like the way we defended; they shot 53% on us. We started well and I felt good, but we lost all three [final] quarters. I thought defensively we never set a real good tone that we could play to. You have to give their bench credit. I thought they energized the team. If you would have told me that their starting unit would score 35 points or so, I would have said we were in pretty good shape. That wasnt the case.

There are a couple of things that need to happen. Teams have shot well against us. We have to do a better job at on the basketball itself. The second thing is that rebounding has been a problem for us. We have not shot the ball well from the three point line over that course. Thats a season for you. Youre going to have some up and downs.

Its not the end of the world. We still have a lot of basketball to play. We just have to bounce back. Well address what needs to be done. We have to bounce back and get ready for Seattle. We dont have that much time to fix everything. We need to practice determined and just go to work.

I thought we started off the game pretty well. Then we kind of went away from what we do well. They (Sparks) became more aggressive and then we became more passive. We made a lot of defensive mistakes. We had some good shots that werent going down. The responsibility is with us. We didnt play as well as were capable of. We know that in this league the moment you let up is a moment another team is going to beat us. We have to work on getting ourselves together and regroup and come back on Thursday.

(How does it feel to end the losing streak?) It feels good. Im really happy we did it against the best team in the league right now. This team is really good and has been playing really well and to come into their house and perform the way we did, Im very proud of our girls.

(How much confidence do you have in your bench right now?) If you want to have a good team, its not just about your starters, its about what you can get off your bench. I was very happy with their performance. As a matter fact, when we came in at halftime I asked the ladies who should start the second half. Should we go back with the starters or should we start the bench? So I didnt make the decision they made that decision. They said, well the starters are going to come back out but the bench get ready.

(What kind of attitude are you trying to instill in the team?) You cant be afraid to play, especially somebody like Kristi Toliver. Ill take her out if she doesnt shoot the ball. Im not worrying about her missing. If you dont shoot it that means you not ready to play, so shoot the ball.

(Explain the technical foul in the 3rd quarter) Im going to get them! Because Im going to protect our players and if I dont get them, that means the players will get them and thats going to throw them off their game.

(How much confidence did the coach give the bench tonight?) We have always been over eleven deep with Candice, some of the starters had got into foul trouble and we were just trying to pick them up.

(What kind of attitude does the coach give to the players) Jellys just a different contrast because you have to give him another level of respect just because he is Kobes dad. Also, the way he played, the way he has coached overseas, and that hes coached this team before.
