Stars Abroad: March 24

Select Stars players have continued to improve their game by playing overseas during the WNBA offseason. Below is a recap on how some of the San Antonio players have performed in their most recent contests.


Danielle Adams Maccabi Ashdod (Israel)

Danielle Adams led Maccabi Ashdod in scoring in their 88-85 overtime victory against Ramat Hasharon on March 19 in round five of the second stage. Adams recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. She also added an assist and a steal, and was nine of nine from the free throw line. The Stars forward currently ranks eighth in the league in scoring (17.6 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (9.5 rpg).

Shenise Johnson Istanbul University (Turkey)

Shenise Johnson was the lone bright spot for Istanbul University in their 66-80 loss to Fenerbahce in the 25th regular season round on March 22. Despite the loss, Johnson dropped 24 points in 36 minutes while adding two assists, one steal and seven rebounds. Johnson was 10 for 21 from the floor on the day.

Kayla Alexander Energy Ivanovo (Russia)

Energy Ivanovo lost their first game of the playoff quarterfinals in Russia on March 23, falling to Dynamo Kursk 53-74. Alexander started and played 30 minutes in the game, scoring seven points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Impressively, nine of her 11 rebounds were off the offensive glass. Alexander currently ranks fourth in the Russian League in scoring (14.8 ppg) and third in rebounding (8.5 rpg).

Shameka Christon Zamarat (Spain)

Shameka Christon put in an admirable performance for Zamarat in a narrow 70-75 overtime loss to Bembibre on March 22. Christon started and played 37 minutes in the contest, scoring 14 points and grabbing four rebounds. She was seven of nine from the free throw line and collected two assists and two steals in the game.

Danielle Robinson USK Praha (Czech Republic)

Danielle Robinson helped lead her team to a 78-52 thrashing of Czech opponents, Sokol HK, in the 9th round of the second stage on March 22. Robinson started and played 24 minutes at the guard position in the win. The 2013 Stars All Star scored three points, collected three assists and grabbed four rebounds in the contest. Robinson added two steals as well as she continues to prepare for the upcoming 2014 WNBA season.
