-- Season tips off on May 16 in Atlanta --

SAN ANTONIO The San Antonio Stars will begin the 2014 season on Friday, May 16, traveling to Atlanta to take on the Dream in Phillips Arena at 6:30 p.m. The Friday night opener marks the seventh time in franchise history that the Stars will begin the season away from home, dating back to their move to San Antonio in 2003.

The Stars will play their home opener the following night on May 17 at 7 p.m. against the Tulsa Shock, marking the first time since moving to San Antonio that the team will open on a back-to-back.

San Antonio will start the 34-game schedule by playing five times on the road in its first eight games of the season. The month of May will feature four road games for San Antonio, culminating with a May 30 matchup against the defending WNBA Champion, Minnesota Lynx.

July marks the busiest month for the Stars, who will play 12 games, six at home and six on the road, in a period of 29 days. The Stars will also have six games in the month of May, the most games they have played in that month in franchise history.

The Stars will travel to Tulsa to face the Shock in a matinee start at 11:30 a.m. on July 17 before breaking for the WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix on July 19.

San Antonio will play in front of a national audience on ESPN 2 on Tuesday, July 29 when it hosts the Chicago Sky. Its annual Breast Health Awareness postgame auction will take place later that week following its game against the Connecticut Sun on Friday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. The Stars' Breast Health Awareness auction has raised over $207,000 dollars for cancer prevention and research since 2009.

The Stars will conclude their 2014 regular-season schedule on Aug. 17 in Chicago against the Sky. The game will conclude a busy August that will see the Stars play seven games in 17 days to finish the season.

Following the 2013 season, the Stars announced that they had dropped the "Silver" from their name, while also revealing a marquee sponsorship with San Antonio-based grocery retailer, H-E-B.

The 2014 Stars season, which is presented by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa and H-E-B, marks the team's 12th year in San Antonio and the 18th season in the WNBA.

Stars games can be heard on The Ticket 760 KTKR-AM with Andrew Monaco. The remainder of the Stars 2014 television schedule will be released at a later date.
