Silver Stars Celebrate 10th Anniversary Friday

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Silver Stars will celebrate their 10th Anniversary season when they take on the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. This season marks the 10th year in Texas for the state’s only professional women’s sports franchise after the team relocated from Utah in 2003.

Prior to tip-off, the team will honor its 10-year season ticket holders with a Wall of Honor unveiling during a pregame reception with WNBA President Laurel Richie. Located at the top of section 113 alongside the Spurs and Rampage Walls of Honor, the Silver Stars Wall of Honor will feature the names of season tickets holders who have been with the team between five and 10 seasons.

The first 5,000 fans will receive a commemorative 10th Anniversary poster from Sonterra Ophthalmology while the first 2,500 will receive bangers courtesy of St. Philips College, the presenting sponsor of the 10th Anniversary celebration. Friday’s game is also Dollar Night, with $1 hot dogs and sodas available at concession stands.

Following the game, former Phoenix Mercury president and general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale will be signing her new book You Let Some Girl Beat You on the concourse at the top of Section 106. One of Sports Illustrated’s Top 40 Athletes of the Title IX Era, Drysdale was the first female student-athlete to earn a four-year scholarship to UCLA. She went on to become the only woman to sign with an NBA team, the Indiana Pacers, in 1979. Books will be available for sale on the concourse for $17.25.

Lower level seats for the 10th Anniversary Celebration are available now starting at $11. Visit or call (210) 444-5090 for more information.
