Los Angeles –Sparks guard Kristi Toliver was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played August 11 through August 17, it was announced today by the WNBA.

Following a week in which she helped lead the Sparks to a 2-1 record and helped secure a 2014 playoff spot for a record-setting 14th postseason appearance, Toliver earned her first Player of the Week honor this season and third of her career.   

In a 71-63 win at Minnesota, she had a career-high-tying and season-high 29 points, nailing 11-of-18 shots from the field, including 5-for-9 from three-point range.  She added five assists and three rebounds to give Los Angeles its first win over Minnesota this season and to help LA clinch a playoff spot.   In the team’s final home game of the regular season, she again poured in 20 points with another solid game from beyond the arc, sinking 3-of-6 attempts, to go along with six assists to lead LA to a 77-65 win over Seattle. In the team’s final game of the week, she added 7 points and 1 assist in a 76-69 loss at Phoenix.

For the week, she ranked third among Western Conference players in scoring (18.7 ppg) and tied for fourth in assists (4.0 apg).  She also placed second in three-point field goal percentage (.563, 9-of-16) and third in overall field goal percentage (.667, 22-of-33).

Through the regular season Toliver averaged 11.8 points, was second on the team in assists with 4.1 apg and led the team in three-point production, shooting .393 (46-of-117) through 27 games played.
