Sparks Abroad Update

Every week during the WNBA off-season, will feature an update for fans interested in following Sparks players currently competing abroad.  Our players are currently fanned out across six countries and two continents, tearing up the international hoops scene and prepping for the 2011 campaign in Los Angeles!

DeLisha Milton-Jones (@DelishaMJones)
Milton-Jones has been on-fire this season for ZVVZ USK Praha, earning Czech League Player of the Week honors for Round 12 and scoring in double-figures in every league game.  She recently posted an impressive double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Trutamov.  On the season, Milton-Jones averages 19.5 points and 8.0 points in the Czech League and 16.2 points and 8.3 boards in Euroleague play; USK is next in action Saturday.

Chanelle Mokango
On the heels of her rookie season in Los Angeles, Mokango is plying her trade this off-season with Mersin in Turkey, averaging 9.9 points and 6.8 boards prior to yesterday’s win over Alanya (stats unavailable).  Mokango next hits the hardwood Friday.

Candace Parker (@Candace_Parker)
On Sunday Parker poured in 17 points in an 80-50 win over Chevakta to help UMMC Ekaterinburg move to a perfect 13-0 in Russian League play.  She’s averaging 18.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in domestic play, as well as 20.5 points and 6.5 boards in the Euroleague for UMMC, which next faces Spanish club Rivas in Euroleague play Feb. 1.

Ticha Penicheiro (@TichaPenicheiro)
The veteran point guard returned to her native Portugal earlier this month to suit up for Alves, and is averaging 9.6 points, an impressive 9.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists through five games.  Most recently, she poured in 17 points and dished out seven helpers in Sunday’s win over Olivais.  Alves is off until Feb. 5.

Noelle Quinn
Quinn is currently the starting off-guard for perennial Russian powerhouse Spartak Moscow, averaging 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in domestic play and 6.3 points, 4.0 boards and 2.7 assists in the Euroleague.  Her latest effort was a 10-point, seven-rebound performance in a narrow win over Nadezhda last Saturday.  Spartak is off until Feb. 1.

Kristi Toliver (@KristiToliver)
Toliver joined Samsun of the Turkish League at the beginning of this month and is off to a solid start, posting 11.8 points and 2.5 assists through her first four games.  She scored in double-figures in two recent contests, including a 19-point performance on Jan. 22 vs. Botas.  Toliver is back in action Friday.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton (@Wisdom14)
The Sparks forward played 11 games earlier this season with first-place Elitzur Ramla of the Israeli League, averaging 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting a blistering 63.8% from the floor.
