Sparks Invite Fans to Annual Draft Party, April 16

Sparks Hold #1 Pick in 2012 WNBA Draft; Party at ESPN Zone at L.A. Live

The Los Angeles Sparks will hold their annual Draft Party at the ESPN Zone at L.A. Live on April 16, starting at 10:30AM. The Sparks own the #1 pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft, and want fans to join Head Coach Carol Ross and Vice President and General Manager Penny Toler to celebrate and be part of the selection experience.

Sparks fans are encouraged to wear their Sparks gear, as ESPN cameras will be live to cover the action and interview team executives. Fans will also have a chance to ask the new #1 draft pick questions over live webcam, shortly after the selection is made.

Space is limited. Reserve your spot today for just $15 per guest ($20 per guest at the door). Price includes admission, food and a private meet and greet with the Sparks #1 pick (date to be determined).

The last time the Sparks held the first overall pick was in 2008 when they made Candace Parker the top overall selection. Parker went on to win both Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year awards in her first WNBA campaign. The Sparks also own three picks in the second round (picks 13, 15 and 16) and the 29th pick in the third round.

Among the top prospects eligible for this year’s WNBA Draft are the following players: Nnemkadi Ogwumike from Stanford, Samantha Prahalis from Ohio State, Natalie Novosel and Devereaux Peters from Notre Dame and Shekinna Stricklen from the University of Tennessee.
