Regular Season Round 20: Istanbul Univ. � Ceyhan Bld
71-70 (16-25, 15-10, 17-13, 23-22)

Istanbul University won a nail biter 71-70 over Ceyhan Bld. Istanbul University forced 12 turnovers and shot 15-18 from the free throw line to get the victory. Carolyn Swords had a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Istanbul University will look for an upset when they take on third place Kayseri in the next round of games on March 4.

Regular Season Round 19: Galatasaray � Istanbul Univ.
68-61 (14-19, 14-11, 17-15, 23-16)

In a game with a lot of interest to Chicago Sky fans, Galatasaray (16-3) defeated Istanbul University (3-16) 68-61 in an exciting fashion. The game was tied after three quarters and Galatasaray turned up the tempo to pull away in the fourth quarter. Diana Taurasi led Galatasaray with 23 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Sky center, Sylvia Fowles, chipped in 18 points and seven rebounds and guard Epiphanny Prince had four assists and two rebounds for Galatasaray. Sky center Carolyn Swords had a double-double with 11 points and 13 points and Dominique Canty contributed 17 points and five assists for Istanbul University. The win pushes Galatasaray to a tie for first place while Istanbul University lost its fourth game in a row. Fowles, Prince, and Galatasary take on Antakya in their next game and Swords, Canty, and Istanbul University will play Ceyhan Bld at home.

Regular Season Round 18: Istanbul Univ. - Mersin
60-67�(22-12, 12-21, 15-12, 11-22)

Fifth place Mersin (10-8) needed a fourth quarter comeback to beat Istanbul University (3-15), 67-60 on Sunday. Mersin was trailing by four points after the third quarter but they went on a 22-11 run in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory. Center Carolyn Swords recorded a double double for Istanbul University by recording 14 points and 15 rebounds and her Sky teammate, Dominque Canty had 14 points and three assists. Istanbul University is on a three game losing streak and will take on the Sky teammates Epiphanny Prince, Sylvia Fowles and Galatasaray in its next game.

Regular Season Round 16: Botas - Istanbul Univ.
105-100 OT�(19-24, 22-22, 23-22, 23-19, 18-13)�

Seventh ranked Botas (7-9) edged out Twelfth-ranked�Istanbul Universitesi�(3-13) in overtime, 105-100. Istanbul Universitesi was ahead by 4 points after three quarters, but Botas went a 23-19 run in the 4th quarter to tie the game at the end of regular time. Botas attempted 37 free throws, which allowed it to get back into the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Center�Courtney Paris helped to win the game recording a double double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Forward�Monica Wright�contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward�Charde Houston�replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Chicago Sky players Carolyn Swords and Dominque Canty added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively in the effort for Istanbul Universitesi. Botas' next round opponent will be Besiktas (#11) in Istanbul. Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against Antakya in Hatay.�

Regular Season Round 15: Istanbul Univ. - Optimum TED
68-66 (16-18, 18-16, 20-12, 14-20)

Istanbul Universitesi (3-12) edged out Optimum TED (6-9) 68-66 at home on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Istanbul Universitesi made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Istanbul Universitesi outrebounded Optimum TED 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Charde Houston led her team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Sky guard Dominique Canty nine points with five assists in the win and Sky center Carolyn Swords had 14 ponits and seven rebounds. Center Kara Braxton scored 15 points and 10 rebounds and Sky guard Erin Thorn added 15 points and four assists in the effort for Optimum TED. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to eleventh place with the win and Optimum TED dropped to the seventh. Istanbul Universitesi will face Botas (#7) in Adana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Regular Season Round 14: Fenerbahce - Istanbul Univ.
105-87 (31-33, 38-18, 23-18, 13-18)

Istanbul Universitesi (2-12) had a rough game against Leader Fenerbahce as they won their thirteenth game in a row 105-87. It looked good early as Istanbul Universitesi took a 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fenerbahce had a 38-18 second period charge getting the lead and Istanbul Universitesi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 87-105. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Universitesi's 48 and made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Istanbul Universitesi 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Fenerbahce players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. American forward Angel McCoughtry orchestrated the victory with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Australian forward Penny Taylor contributed with 24 points and five assists for the winners. Chicago Sky�s Carolyn Swords replied with 12 points and nine rebounds and her fellow Sky teammate added 14 points and three assists in the effort for Istanbul Universitesi. Five Fenerbahce and four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce will play against Antakya (#10) in Hatay in the next round and Istanbul Universitesi will play at home against Optimum TED in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Regular Season Round 13: Istanbul Univ. - Tarsus Bld

The game between closely ranked teams Istanbul Universitesi's (2-11) could not pull off the win at home and lost to Tarsus Bld (4-9) 69-74 on Saturday. Tarsus Bld trailed by 2 points at the half before their 24-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Tarsus Bld made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Center Jessica Adair stepped up and scored 15 points and nine rebounds for the winners and American guard Ivory Latta in 16 points and five assists. Four Tarsus Bld players scored in double figures. For Istanbul Universitesi Charde Houston led the team with 24 points and 14 rebounds and making her debute game overseas this season Dominique Canty scored 10 points and had four rebounds. Carolyn Swords had six points and nine rebounds. Tarsus Bld moved-up to tenth place and Istanbul Universitesi stay at the bottom position. Tarsus Bld will face Antakya (#8) in Hatay in the next round and Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against the league's leader Fenerbahce.

Regular Season Round 12: Samsun - Istanbul Univ.

In her first game for Istanbul Universitesi, Carolyn Swords help break a seven game losing steak in a trilling 74-73 overtime victory against Samsun. Istanbul Universitesi was ahead by 12 points at the half, but allowed Samsun to come back in the third. Then Istanbul Universitesi went on a 15-12 run, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regulation and take the win in overtime. Istanbul Universitesi outrebounded Samsun 58-41 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by forward Charde Houston who had double-double by scoring 38 points and 14 rebounds and in Swords� debute game had eight points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds by power forward Jayne Appel and Colakoglu�s 16 points and five rebounds did not help to save the game for Samsun. Istanbul Universitesi maintains twelfth position with 2-10 record. Samsun on the other side keeps the fifth place with a record of 7-5. Istanbul Universitesi will play against higher ranked Tarsus Bld (#11) in Mersin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Samsun will play on the road against Antakya (#9) in Hatay and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Carolyn Swords� Joventud Mariana (8-3) rolled past Navarra Pamplona (2-10) 100-73. Joventud Mariana dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its 100 points in the paint compared to Navarra Pamplona's 50, and outrebounded Navarra Pamplona 38-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Joventud Mariana players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Power forward Astou Traore orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds, and Chicago Sky center Carolyn Swords contributed with 22 points and seven rebounds for the winners. The former international center Paula Segui answered with 14 points and seven rebounds and the former international guard Maria Begona added 13 points, six assists and four steals in the effort for Navarra Pamplona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Joventud Mariana moved-up to third place in the standing, which they share with Rivas Ecopolis. Navarra Pamplona on the other side keeps the thirteenth position. Joventud Mariana's next round opponent will be Real Celta Vigo (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game.

Regular Season Round 10: Perfumerias - Mariana

Perfumerias Avenida (9-1) hosted Mariana (7-3) Saturday night and managed to pullout a 77-72 victory. Mariana was ahead by two points after three quarters before a 19-12 charge of Perfumerias Avenida, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Marta Fernandez scored 16 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead the charge and guard DeWanna Bonner chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds during the contest for the winners. Carolyn Swords had an amazing game scoring a double double 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Astou Traore scored 22 points and six rebounds for Mariana. Perfumerias Avenida maintains second place in the standings with a 9-1 record. Mariana dropped to the fifth. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Argon Uni Girona (#4) on the road in the next round. Mariana will play against Navarra Pamplona and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Regular Season Round 8: Burgos - Mariana

Joventud Mariana smashed Arranz-Jopisa Burgos 84-60 Saturday night. Joventud Mariana led from the first minutes of the game and did not ease up at all. Paola Ferrari orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Asou Traore contributed with 20 points and six rebounds and Chicago Sky center Carolyn Swords had 13 points and five rebounds for the winners. Four Joventud Mariana players scored in double figures. Center Ziomara Morrison replied with a double double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and forward Anna Pokoiova added 15 points and five rebounds in the effort for Arranz-Jopisa Burgos. Joventud Mariana has an impressive five-game winning streak and hpe to keep that going into their naext game vs. Hondarribia-Irun (#10). They maintain fourth position with 6-2 record. Arranz-Jopisa Burgos lost their third consecutive game and are slipping back in the standings. The team dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Arranz-Jopisa Burgos will play against Argon Uni Girona.

Regular Season Round 7: Mariana - Gran Canaria

Fifth ranked Gran Canaria (4-3) played at the court of sixth ranked Joventud Mariana (5-2). Mariana managed to secure a 7-point victory 67-60. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 17-13 Gran Canaria's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 67-60 at the end of the game. Mariana forced 20 Gran Canaria turnovers. Forward Astou Traore fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Sky center Carolyn Swords had a decent game, scoring sic points and grabbed six rebounds. Center Astou Ndour produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and D�andra Moss added 19 points respectively for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Joventud Mariana. They moved-up to fourth place. Gran Canaria at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Joventud Mariana's next round opponent will be Arranz-Jopisa Burgos (#8) on the road. Gran Canaria will play against Argon Uni Girona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in Zaragoza where fifth ranked Joventud Mariana (4-2) defeated 9th ranked Mann Filter (2-4) 73-67 on Saturday. Mariana trailed by 9 points at the half before their 50-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Mariana made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Chicago Sky center Carolyn Swords had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese power forward Astou Traore chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line. during the contest). The best for the losing side was guard Queralt Casas with 20 points and international guard Cristina scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Mariana have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Gran Canaria and Girona. Mann Filter lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with four games lost. Bottom-ranked Ibiza (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to sixth ranked Mariana (3-2) 84-58. Mariana mostly controlled the game. Ibiza was better in third quarter 20-19, but it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mariana forced 24 Ibiza turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Ibiza's players. Senegalese power forward Astou Traore orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. Paraguayan-Italian swingman Paola Ferrari contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Melissa Dennett answered with 7 points and 12 rebounds and the former international swingman Silvia Morales added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ibiza. Joventud Mariana moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Ibiza lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Mariana and Cajarural had identical 1-2 record coming into this game, but not after. Cajarural wasn�t able to take advantage of the home court and was defeated 85-76. Mariana was ahead by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 17-15 Cajarural's run in the fourth to cut the lead to 85-76 at the end of the game. Mariana made 16-of-19 for the free throw line (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Mariana especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Forward Astou Traore fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Mariana forward Brittany Spears chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds perfect from downtown making all six shots. Chicago Sky center Carolyn Swords produced 16 points and eight rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cajarural's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. With the win, Mariana (2-2) moved-up to fifth place in the standing, which they share with four other teams. Cajarural has lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Mariana's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Ibiza (#14) at home and are hoping to win another game. Cajarural will play against Argon Uni Girona (#5).

Then Argon Uni Girona had a 19-9 second period charge getting the lead and Mariana was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-77. Argon Uni Girona forced 20 Mariana turnovers. It was a good game for forward Angelica Robinson who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Shona Thorburn contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. Paola Ferrari answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Chicago Sky center Carolyn Swords added 14 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Mariana. Argon Uni Girona (2-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mann Filter and Gran Canaria. Mariana dropped to the seventh position, which they share it with 5 other teams. Argon Uni Girona will play against league's second-placed Rivas Ecopolis at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
