Swin Cash continues her work to empower youth
The Inspire Girls to Lead Our World, iGlow, “Pink Pearls and Pretty Dresses: Girls Empowerment Brunch” is part of a national mission and effort to empower, engage and inspire the young girl, ages 10-19 to overcome the challenges young girls are faced with on a daily basis. The Brunch event is expected to reach thousands in its Chicago-land debut held on Sunday, October 14th, 2012 at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center at 5555 N. River Road, in Rosemont, IL from noon to 4 p.m.
Sky Forward, Swin Cash, will SKYPE in to attendees as a speaker. Cash is a WNBA Champion, US Olympic gold medalist, featured in ESPN Magazine, USA Today, O magazine, Cosmopolitan, Essence, Vibe and TV Guide and also named by People Magazine as one of 12 Hottest Female Olympians. Nina Chantele, (103.5 KISS FM, WGCI “The Morning Riot” co-host and entertainment contributor for WLS-TV’s “Windy City Live”), will be the emcee.
Two time Olympic Gold Medalist and 2011 World Champion, Gabrielle Douglas, will not only have center stage at this event as the keynote speaker, but she will be alongside her own mother, Natalie Hawkins, sharing her own story of both struggle and victory. “The whole point of the Olympic Games is to inspire a generation, I always wanted to play that role, I thought about how I would impact young girls,” Douglas said. “I want to let them know everything is possible, if you put your mind to it,” she went on to say.
This event is a principle fundraiser for iGlow developed to help raise funds for the organization to continue delivering resources and mentorship for young girls in Chicago. iGlow provides platforms for girls to get answers to their questions about life and their struggles.
