Chicago Sky players Tamera Young & Le’coe Willingham visited the Girls in the Game Friends and Family Day on Monday and had the opportunity to participate in some basketball and jump rope activities, chat, sign autographs and take pictures with some of their biggest fans at Union Park near Chicago’s Westside.
Girls in the Game is a nonprofit organization that teaches sports, fitness, health and leadership development to girls between the ages of eight and eighteen years of age. The organization serves as an after school program in thirty-five Chicago public schools.
Alysse Engleman, a staff member for Girls in the Game, commented on the event: “The Sky being here means a lot to the girls because the girls here don’t have many positive female role models; and for us to be able to teach and show them about sports motivates them to do well in school, so they can one day play professional basketball like the Chicago Sky players here today.”
