Chicago Sky Roster Set for 2014 Home Opener

Notable additions to the Sky roster include the dynamic duo of Jessica Breland and Sasha Goodlett who produced a combined 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game throughout the preseason.

Friday will be the first opportunity for fans to see the Sky’s latest draft class. The 6-foot-5 Markeisha Gatling, athletic forward Gennifer Brandon and crafty point guard Jamierra Faulkner each add a new dimension to the Chicago’s 2014 roster. Elena Delle Donne returns to the court following a standout rookie season where she earned 2013 WNBA Rookie of the Year honors.

The Chicago Sky will begin its ninth season as a member of the WNBA’s Eastern Conference on Friday, May 16, 2014 against the Indiana Fever. The game features two of the WNBA’s top defensive teams and a rematch of last year’s first round Eastern Conference playoff series. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. CT at Allstate Arena. Prior to the game the Sky will host a Career Fair in the Allstate Arena Skyline Room and BreakSk8 Entertainment Crew, who rose to prominence after performing on MTV’S “America’s Best Dance Crew” will entertain the fans at halftime. The game will broadcast on The U Too.

Chicago defeated Indiana 73-66 in the WNBA’s first-ever Preseason Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The Sky’s defensive intensity was key in this win and will continue to be the focus against the Eastern Conference rival Indiana Fever in the 2014 season series.
