Sky Jr Interns Blog
For the second year the Chicago Sky is participating in the Perspectives Charter Schools internship program. This program gives eleventh graders an opportunity to get a look at different careers that they might want to pursue. The students come to the Sky office five times from November to January. We asked our three students, India, Brianna and Hannah to write a little bit about themselves and what they have gotten out of their internship thus far.
Hi, my name is India Allen. I'm 17 years old and a junior at Perspectives Leadership Academy. Two weeks ago I started my first internship at the Chicago Sky office. I began playing basketball my second year in high school. When I heard that my internship was with the Chicago Sky I was really excited. Since I've been here I've had a wonderful experience. I've completed many tasks and learned a lot about the Chicago Sky office. Here at the Chicago Sky I'm really interested in the sales department because I like working with numbers. Internships are a great experience to have. They open your mind up to new views about your future. You don't have to necessary like your internship, but always be open-minded to try new things. Internships give you opportunities to get ahead when planning your future. After interning you should then know what you like to do and what you don't like to do. I have three more weeks at the Sky building and I look forward to it! I am greatly appreciative that I got to intern with the people who make it happen for the Chicago Sky.
Hi, my name is Brianna West. I am 17 years old and a junior at Perspectives Joslin Campus. I recently started an internship at Chicago Sky and have always loved sports my entire life. My favorite sports are volleyball, track, and basketball. I was very pleased when I found out I was going to be working in the sports industry. Just coming up with different ideas to advertise and get people interested and coming to the games makes me very excited. Having an internship here keeps you open minded about what you want to do with your life. Whether it is public relations, sales or design which is what we do here at the office. Working here always gives me an idea of what I could be doing when I get older. Three more weeks left of the intern and now I am wondering about what is going to happen next!
Hi, my name is Hannah Rhea. I am 16 years old and a junior at Perspectives Joslin Campus. I started my first internship a few weeks ago with the Chicago Sky. I have loved sports my entire life, especially softball, volleyball, and basketball; so when I heard that I was interning with the Sky I was very excited. I'm excited to learn about all of the work that goes into making a professional basketball team. I especially would like to learn more about the PR and design part of it. So far I'm having a good time here, the people are cool and they know what they are doing. I hope the fun continues, and I will be sad to leave!
