Sky Drop Tough Game to Sun 82-77
Swin Cash led the Sky with 21 points and 15 rebounds, both highs this season and her first double-double in a Chicago uniform. Epiphanny Prince had 14 points and Courtney Vandersloot finished with 15 points and five assists. Vandersloot’s first assist on a Epiphanny Prince 3-pointer with 6:41 left in the first set a Sky all-time season record for assists with 128, breaking the mark she set last year.
The Sky were able to build a 14 point lead in the first half due to hot shooting and aggressively taking it to the basket, but Chicago cooled off in the second half and the Sun’s Tina Charles took advantage of Sylvia Fowles’ absence from the lineup and scored a team high 24 points
Following tonight’s game, the Sky fell behind the New York Liberty by one-half game for fourth place in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference. The Sky has six games remaining; the Liberty five.
Renee Montgomery finished the game with 12 points for Connecticut including three big 3-pointers in the second half.
The Sky (11-17) head home to face the Lynx on Tuesday, while the Sun (21-8) travel to Phoenix to play the Mercury on Wednesday
