Sky Challenge WNBA’s Best, Drop Road Game to Lynx 79-67

(Minneapolis) While the Lynx got off to a 17 point first half lead, the Sky never gave up, cutting the lead to as little as five points, before falling to the reigning WNBA champs, 79-67.

Sylvia Fowles led the Sky with 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, her ninth double-double in 10 games. Sonja Petrovic added a career high 13 points from off the bench and Swin Cash had one of her better all around games as a member of the Sky with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists.

The Sky trailed 51-34 at the half before going on a 12 point run to start the third quarter, clamping down the defense and not allowing a Lynx point the first seven minutes of the second half. The Lynx rallied to end the third on Seimone Augustus’ first six points of the afternoon and took a 62-51 advantage into the final quarter.

In the fourth, the Lynx veterans rallied to finish off the game building the lead to as high as 17 before winning by 12.

On the night the Lynx out assisted the Sky 21 to 12 and out shot the Sky 46.9% to 40%.

Lindsay Whalen led the Lynx with 25 points and eight assists. Maya Moore added 10.

The Sky (7-3) head home to play the Indiana Fever on Wednesday, while the Lynx (12-1) will play Phoenix on Wednesday.
