Sky At Monster Dash

On Saturday, October 18th, the Sky Guy participated in Glencoe Educational Foundation’s first annual 5K Monster Dash. The event was presented by the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute and supported by @Properties and Running Right. Kids and parents were encouraged to wear their scariest Halloween costumes for the race, which began at 9 a.m. at Kalk Park in Glencoe.

Sky Guy was there to cheer on the runners, walking the course and high-fiving the participants as they crossed the finish line. Almost 200 runners signed up for the race and braved some “Monster Weather,” which included heavy rain toward the end of the event. Prizes were awarded for the best costumes, the fastest boy and girl for ages 14 & under, and the top 3 fastest men and women. All winners received iPad minis, and all participants were given Glencoe Educational Foundation t-shirts.

The Sky also had a table there during the event, where Sky staff members raffled off a t-shirt and Pokey Chatman bobblehead. Other activities there included face painting, food trucks, and sprint races for children. All money raised at the Monster Dash was donated to schools in Glencoe and Glencoe Educational Foundation’s sister schools throughout the Chicago area.
