Remember when we hosted Fan Appreciation Night and the Sky thanked their loyal fans for a memorable 2012 season. The first 3,000 fans were treated with a Pokey Chatman bobble head while the 500,000th fan was met by Sky Guy, confetti and prizes as he entered the arena.
Throughout the game, all Sky fans in attendance had the opportunity to win a variety of great prizes including autographed Sky memorabilia, Jamba Juice gift cards, Pretzel Crisps Gift Baskets, Earth Friendly products, a TV, Apple Shuffles and iPods and much more, including tickets to see the sold-out Justin Bieber concert in October at Allstate Arena.
After the Sky staged another second-half comeback to beat the Mystics 77-58, Sky fans competed in a game of Knock Out, before joining the players for a postgame party in the Courtside Club. Penicheiro was honored with a cake before speaking to the Sky faithful who stuck around for the meet-and-greet with the Sky team. Hundreds of fans lined up for an opportunity to meet their favorite players and get autographs.

Remember when after a storied 15 year career filled with jaw-dropping passes, Ticha Penicheiro decided to retire from the hardwood at the conclusion of the 2012 season. The legendary point guard played in the final game of her career when the Chicago Sky hosted the Washington Mystics on Fan Appreciation Night at the Allstate Arena on September 22nd.
Penicheiro was greeted with a standing ovation as her name was announced during the introduction of the starters. Fans in attendance proudly displayed their #TYT (Thank You Ticha) shirts as Ticha was honored with a Sky jersey in a pregame ceremony, which included a video montage featuring former teammates and coaches thanking Penicheiro for all she has done for the game.
After another standing ovation, Penicheiro took the microphone as she thanked her family, past coaches and the WNBA fans for their unwavering support over the last 15 years of her life. In the game, Penicheiro saw 11 minutes of action and registered two assists and a steal. The Old Dominion alum finishes her career with the most assists in WNBA history with 2,599 and second most steals with 764.
