Military personnel honored as Sky defuse the Sparks

With over five hundred military personnel in attendance on Sunday night, the Chicago Sky used a second-half surge to erase a 12-point deficit and defeat the red-hot Los Angeles Sparks, 85-74.

Sky Military Appreciation Night 2012 was proudly presented by Robert Morris University and along with Jennie O, Action Floor Systems, Boost Mobile, Valor, McDonalds, Chuck E. Cheeseís Guam, Steven B. Pearlman & Associates and The Abt Family the Sky provided complimentary tickets to military veterans and personnel from the Jesse Brown Veteranís Assistant Hospital, the North Chicago Veteranís Assistance Hospital and many more.

Swin Cash on behalf of the Chicago Sky organization thanked them for all their hard work in a pregame speech. Military night is especially close to Swinís heart as she has numerous family members, including her father, involved in the military.

There were performances from a variety of groups throughout the evening including Marmion Academy out of Aurora, IL who performed the Color Guard and also provided a thrilling halftime drill team display. We also saw the students from The World Performance Team, which is a gang-prevention program formed to help keep young people off the streets and away from street gangs. The team includes a performing arts academy, male-mentoring, community service projects, an after-school program at Beethoven Elementary School and a gang-prevention program.
