Back on Winning Track

The Chicago Sky took down the Washington Mystics for the fourth time this season winning 93-79 on Sunday afternoon. The Sky finish the regular season 4-1 against the Mystics.

The Sky got off to a slow start as the Mystics jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first three minutes of the game. However, the Sky weren’t going to let themselves get into another hole early, as they did on Friday night. Chicago fired off a 19-6 run to finish off the first quarter, taking a 22-17 lead.

The teams traded baskets throughout the second quarter matching the other’s intensity. A sweet touch pass from Tamera Young to Sylvia Fowles in the closing seconds of the quarter drew a round of applause from their Sky teammates. Chicago maintained their lead heading into halftime leading the Mystics 43-37.

In the third quarter, the Sky saw a more aggressive Mystics team take the court. Ivory Latta hit two deep threes to get her team going while Crystal Langhorne managed to find the basket, hitting three tough shots in the paint. The Sky did not let up. Epiphanny Prince had a big quarter for the Sky, going three-for-three behind the arc and 11 points. Chicago led 63-58 going into the fourth.

The Sky went on a 22-8 run in the final quarter to take a 17-point lead with 3:29 remaining. A late 8-0 run gave the Mystics a bit of hope but five straight points from Delle Donne put the game out of reach for Washington. The Sky rounded out the fourth quarter shooting 60% from the field.

Delle Donne had a game high 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Prince had a phenomenal shooting night, finishing with 21 points, going five-for-five from three point land. Swin Cash’s effort carried over from Friday night. She put up 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
