A Day in the Life: Candice Dupree

Hey Sky Fans!

Many of our fans wonder what were up to on a daily basis, so heres a quick run down of a typical day in my life. The day usually begins early with a quick breakfast before heading over to our practice facility around 9am. Our usual practice starts at 10am, although sometimes we have to lift weights before practice with our strength and conditioning coach, Ann. I usually start out in the training room where I undergo my treatment and ice my leg. Its really important for all of us to be vigilant about visiting the training room and getting our treatments, as our bodies take a real beating with practice and games and our trainers work with us to help prevent injuries and manage any injuries that do happen.

Practice can last up to two hours and involves a warm up and stretch, then all the basketball specific stuff, and sometimes we watch film to help us prepare for the upcoming game.

After practice my first thought is usually food I get hungry after working out for two hours in the gym. I live downtown in a building that is surrounded by great places to eat, so I dont have far to go to get a great meal. I dont always go out to eat, though; sometimes I like to cook for myself. Luckily, we have a fully equipped kitchen in our apartments so we can fix our favorite foods at home. The next thing on my agenda is to take a nap if I have time. Sometimes I cant fit this in as I am out doing appearances in the community or media interviews. It is important to all of the Sky athletes to promote our team and give back to the community.

My building has a great pool and I like to lay out and get some sun, although I have not had much opportunity for this so far with our busy schedule. Lately I have been catching up on my movies - I took a trip to Blockbuster and rented The Departed, and Blood Diamond. Watching TV and movies is one of my favorite ways to relax. I also like to shop and its wonderful having Michigan Avenue so close. Whenever I get the chance I like to stroll up and down the Magnificent Mile and check out the great stores.

As I am away from my family and many friends during the season, I try to get on the Internet at night and communicate with everyone and after that, its bedtime! We practice or play most days, so I try to get a good nights sleep so I can perform at my best every day.

Thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing you all at a Sky game!
