A young group made up of only one senior and primarily juniors and sophomores lead the Niles West School varsity Girls Basketball team. The Niles West Wolves are an IHSA Class 4A team and they have demonstrated how to win off the court with their commitment to the school and community through their recent fundraisers, a record they believe is much more important than numbers in the win loss column.

Off the court, the Niles West Wolves have shown their commitment to the community. Led by senior Molly Kleppin and the other team captain, Alex Galanopoulous, for the past two years have raised money to buy presents for families in need over the holidays. This past December, they raised money to buy presents for members of 3 families and also sent care packages to soldiers with ties to District 219 who are currently serving overseas. Tony Konsewicz, the current head coach, has made community service one of the pillars for the Niles West girls basketball program.

Another important project for the Niles West HS Girls Basketball Team was to continue with their tradition of raising funds and awareness for breast cancer. The team wears pink uniforms along with our sister school, Niles North, to raise money to contribute to a cancer organization. Niles West High School has been associated with the organization, For Mercy, they are a local organization who use money for families who are afflicted with this disease. The money provides services and care for people undergoing treatment.

As a Chicago Sky High School Team of the Week award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to the 2013 Sky Youth Sports Night game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.
